Thanks to the input and collaboration of our students, staff, families, school board members, and community partners, Trumann School District is proud to share the progress of our 5-Year Strategic Plan—our Roadmap to #MoveTrumannForward.
This plan reflects the shared priorities of our community and provides a clear direction to improve learning, strengthen school culture, and enhance opportunities for every Wildcat. With a focus on academic growth, student success, and school safety, the plan outlines key initiatives that will guide our work through 2029.
Key Focus Areas:
Our Strategic Plan is built around three major focus areas:

Academics & Talent – High-quality instruction, professional development, and student learning goals in literacy, math, and science.

Culture & Student Support – Positive school culture, family engagement, student wellness, and a strong sense of belonging for all.

Operations & Safety – Safe, effective school environments and systems that support student success.
Campus Reconfiguration Highlights (Starting 2024–25)
As part of our strategic realignment to better meet students’ developmental and academic needs, campuses will be restructured as follows:
Trumann Elementary School (Grades K–3)
🟡 Focus: Early Literacy
Our goal is for all students to read on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
Supports include:

Weekly reading interventions for all students

Monthly reading challenges and guest readers

Daily school-wide literacy celebrations and incentives
Trumann Middle School (Grades 4–7)
🟡 Focus: Core Academics & Wellness
Students will engage in daily instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies—plus daily physical activity.
Enhancements include:

Literacy split into two core classes: comprehension and writing

Focus on building strong habits in academics and wellness
-
Optional practice sessions for pee wee athletics built into the schedule
Trumann High School (Grades 8–12)
🟡 Focus: Career, Work, and College Readiness
Eighth graders will now be full-time at THS, opening access to high school-level electives, CTE, and fine arts.
Expanded opportunities include:

Career pathways, industry certifications, and student internships

Concurrent credit and advanced coursework (e.g. Algebra I, AP)

Dedicated career coaching and postsecondary planning
Trumann Pre-K (Ages 18 months–4)
🟡 Focus: Early Childhood Development
Pre-K continues to support our youngest learners using state guidelines and a strong emphasis on early literacy and school readiness using the CLASS system.
Academic Goals by 2027
📘 Literacy:

📗 Math:

Progress is measured using a mix of classroom assessments, learning walks, and student data tracking.
