Incoming 9th Grade Planning Session

posted May 14, 2013, 12:42 PM by Justin Smith

Dear Parent,

It is time for your 8th grade child to plan for the four years of high school.  There are many things to consider, some of which are listed below.

What courses are needed to graduate?

How many units of credit are needed?

How do you become an Honor Graduate?

What courses are needed to enter and be successful in college?

What is available for those not going to college?

            What is Smart Core?

As you can see, there is much to consider when making a plan for the high school years.

We want you to help your child make these big decisions.  In order to have your input, we have scheduled a four year planning session for our 8th grade students and their parents on Thursday, May 16 in the Trumann High School Auditorium.  The planning session will begin at 6:00.  We will start out in the high school auditorium and hear about a new program that 9th  and 10th  grade students will be participating in next year.  Then we will move to the high school cafeteria to complete the required documents and request courses for next year.

We will answer all of the questions listed above and choose courses for the 9th grade.  We must have your signature on curriculum documents in order to create a 9th grade schedule for your child.  It is essential that your child attend the session too so that he/she will be a part of these important decisions.

Please make plans for you and your child to attend this very important session.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 483-5354.

I look forward to seeing you at the planning session.

Sincerely,

Cherrie McCoy

A message from Michael Allen, our new Cedar Park Principal!

posted May 6, 2013, 8:43 AM by Justin Smith   [ updated May 6, 2013, 10:46 AM ]

It is with great honor that I look forward to being a part of the Cedar Park Elementary and Trumann School District family.  By working together, we will embrace the changes and challenges that come our way and celebrate our successes.

The focus on students, collectively and individually, and their achievement will be our number one goal as we work to prepare them for a productive life outside of school.  By collaborating with the staff, teachers, parents of our students, and the greater Trumann community, we can expand on the already great things that are going on at Cedar Park Elementary.

The future is bright and I am thankful to be a part of something so great!

It's Teacher Appreciation Week!

posted May 6, 2013, 8:40 AM by Justin Smith

Teacher Appreciation Week is this week. Trumann School District feels so fortunate to have such quality teachers working with our kids each day! Thank you staff for "doing what is right for kids!"

Teachers do not really want you to buy them anything. Instead, just send a note or email saying, "Thanks for all that you do for children." If it's a teacher of your child or a former teacher of yours, it would be nice if you added a personal note about what they mean/meant to you/your child!

THAT'S what teachers love best...hearing how they have made a difference in the lives of their students!
